Cosmic Love

COSMIC LOVE the new breed of Manila sound. Music epitomizing every element breathing life into the city, from the mad jeepney hustles to the hypnotic Manila Bay sunset slow jams. Inspired and influenced by their funk music forerunners, local and foreign alike, these next gen rascals capture Pinoy Funk in a 360 degree spin.

Cosmic Love is a band that represents everything that is positive. Spreading the message of peace and love through music is the main principle that binds this tribe of jeprox. Influenced by many various types of music as diverse as from the classics to the new, beach to urban, folk to dance, world to opm, pop to rock and loud to mellow. By experimenting with different genres and going beyond the border line of making music, the group has developed a sound which is both fresh and original.

The Cosmic Love sound can be described as intense, charismatic and exciting. Mainly built on groovy bass lines, backed up by funky drum beats, flavored by psychedelic and unique smooth guitar riffs, mixed to it are a wide variety of spicy percussions making it very sexy and powerful. On top of it all is a voice that can be reminiscent of a soulful gospel singer. Formed at the latter part of 2003, the band has performed at bars in the metro such as 6 Undergroundg, Halo, Racks El Pueblo, Absinth, Capones, Saguijo Cafe, Mayrics, Ikkois, and Rock Radio among others. They were also part of SMBs Oktoberfest 2005 list of regular performers.

Not limiting themselves to the metro, the group also enjoys sharing their music outside manila, performing in beaches and other provincial cities such as Puerto Galera, Punta Fuego, Zambales and such. One of the most memorable gigs outside Metro Manila was the first surf festival sponsored by San Miguel which was highly celebrated at La Union, where they received a plaque of appreciation. Since then, Cosmic Love has become the favorite of the surfing community in the Philippines.

The band is also part of the PINOY SOUL MOVEMENT promoting hippie love together with bands Pinoy Stories and Sino Sikat? Which, over the past year, had developed its own following. On the summer of 2005, the band has collaborated with hip hops turbulence production artist Nimbus 9ine to create Island Lovin which received airplay at radio stations such as rx93.1 and 105.9. The band has a 12 song demo album in their pockets and in 2006 they released their first EP, featuring guest performances by funk icon Karl Roy and Pinoy Stories' Camoi Miraflor. It sold out in no time at all.

Fans love Cosmic Love for the contagious joy, badassery, and positivity that their performances and personas convey. and of late 2009 the band went through some changes, replacing some of its original members with Queso's bassist Tuts Calinawan, Kapatid's Anjo Elemos on guitars and Paolo Rosal on drums,Miko "Tweaktronik" Acu on turntables took over the the duties adding both muscle and sexy to their already hyper-electric performances. Cosmic Love will soon release their full-length album, so you better get ready for funk-a-soul to get medieval on your asses.
